STAR School Gears Up for Wrestling

December marks the starting of wrestling season according to Coach Elmer Gambler. Parents who want their children to participate in wrestling should make sure they’ve sent their children’s permission slips in to the STAR School.

Basketball Season Continues

Mr. Gambler has asked for the assistance of the STAR School Parent Group in buying reversible jerseys for our team. The Parent Group is looking for ideas for a fundraiser for that purpose and would appreciate your input at the School’s Thanksgiving Dinner.

Let Us Gather Together in Thanks

The Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held at 11:30 a.m. (no, not p.m.!) on Wednesday, November 27th. School will be released after the festivities. Please remember to call the school and let us know whether you will be attending, and how many guests will be coming with you. The school will provide the main dish (turkey) and we need to know in advance how many we need to purchase and prepare. Each family is asked to bring a main dish. Please decide what dish you plan to bring as soon as possible, and call to let us know. We still need people to volunteer to cook turkeys. We will also be hosting a Community Christmas Dinner, and it’s not too early to begin plans for this event as well.

Lucas Johnson and Murphy Luther Receive Special Honors

STAR School basketball players Lucas Johnson, Miles Sorensen, Murphy Luther, Galvin Begody and Chalmer Gambler attended the Tolani Lake Basketball Invitational held Friday, November 22. Murphy Luther was honored with an All Tourney t-shirt. Lucas Johnson received a sweatshirt for good sportsmanship.

STAR School Staff and Parent Group Discusses Parent Responsibility

During the month of November, several issues falling under the area of parent responsibility have arisen here at the STAR School. These issues were addressed at both staff and Parent Group meetings.

MORE GOOD NEWS

Ralph Drake, Brian Tsinnijinnie and Alvin Riggs have been working long after dark each night on the new classrooms, and much has been accomplished.
Most of the underground electrical and water work has been done, the septic is done, the floor has been replaced, and the wiring is all but finished. We’re waiting for the inspection of that work.
The sidewalk will be poured this weekend, and the outside walls are ready for stucco.
We are getting close, parents, and we want to thank you for your patience.
